Well I have to say I was a bit worried about shooting this engagement session after we got that snow but it turned out awesome.  Allyse and Amit drove out from Fort McMurray and we had an awesome time in the snow.  I absolutely can not wait to shoot their 2 day, Catholic/Hindu wedding next summer.  I was excited as soon as they booked with me, especially since I already knew Allyse, which made things easier.  But then I got to meet Amit.  Now I'm more excited.  What a great young couple.  So nice, so smart and so much fun.  But I am sure you will see that in this post.  I hope you enjoy them.

And last but definitely not least, here's a fun shot.  Amit figured that if there was going to be a snowball fight, it wasn't fair to leave out the photographer.  Luckily he missed me but I got this shot.  Not Tiger Woods and the golf ball......Amit and the snowball, lol.

As I am sure you all know, photography over the years has changed a great deal which is why we keep having to strive to learn more and create better images.  Sometimes though, I think its easy to think that images turn out perfect SOOC (straight out of the camera).  That's not always the case.  Its hardly ever the case actually.   The job of a photographer is a vast one.  You don't just take pretty pictures.  It covers everything from keeping up to date on current trends, computer equipment as well as software, camera equipment, posing techniques, scouting out locations, returning a million emails and phone calls, creating sets, completing orders and shipping, as well as editing, editing, editing those lovely shots.  But its so easy to keep that from our clients.  Just shoot and ship and all the stuff in the middle remains a secret of sorts.  Well there is a lot to this job and even though some parts of it can be daunting, I still love it and the clients I get to meet because of it. So I have decided, on occasion, to post before and after images for you to see.  Some may be just a slight change and some may be photoshopped to heck and back, lol.  But hopefully it will be interesting for you to see how things start out and how they end up.  Creativity must be there in shooting but it also be there in the post production and I hope that everyone enjoys the result.  A special thank you to the very striking Mr & Mrs. Moon for this shot.

You forgot blogging! Lol. People have NO clue how LOOONG things take. I have barely had a chance to edit all week as I have been busy designing Christmas cards and collages!! Oh well, I too, LOVE my job :)

Your right Maureen. I totally forgot about blogging. How could I, lol. Plus as you said there's all the custom edits like Christmas Cards, Thank you Cards, etc. Add all those things together and it makes it tough to take the time to go to workshops etc just to stay current and then find a bit of time for your family.

This is a great idea Sharon! Shows all the people (like me) how much of a difference it makes when a pro does the pictures.

Very cool Sharon! You have the best combination of talent and creativity. I know your clients appreciate all of the countless hours you must spend on your computer editing. I am already extremely excited for you to work your magic on me and Devin next August ;)

A few weeks ago I traveled into Manitoba for the wonderful wedding of Candice and Rydell.  I was really looking forward to meeting them but felt like I already knew them a bit as Candice was nice enough to email me a bit about their life and how they got to be where they are now.  It really helps in taking images for people when you know their likes, dislikes, hobbies, careers, etc.  Anyway, it was a fabulous day with an absolutely amazing location out on a friends family farm that just happened to have an amazing antique car to use for photos and then he even drove them to the reception.  Thank you so much Candice and Rydell for being so great to work with, as well as your parents and bridal party.  EVERYONE was just fabulous.  I'm glad your day went perfectly and I wish you both every happiness in the years to come.  Here's a small selection of images from your day.  I hope your and your family and friends enjoy them.

I do not personally know this couple; however, I can't help but comment on this and I just have to say ..... the bride's gown is the most beautiful dress I HAVE EVER SEEN and she looks absolutely stunning in it !!! You did an awesome photography job once again, Sharon, in high-lighting all the beautiful aspects of it and their day !! Bravo to you !

I first want to thank Val for such a sweet and sincere compliment. As well, I want to take the time to publicly reiterate what I have said again and again via email and phone...Thank you Sharon for being the best photographer a bride could ask for. I have to agree with Jill, one of your previous brides, that stated you are more than a photographer. You were so helpful and made our time before and after the ceremony so much fun. I am soo overjoyed at the pictures and can't wait to see them all. I wish you nothing but good things.

While I was not at Candace's wedding, our mother's have been close friends forever, and I was forwarded the link to this album, because I desperately wanted to see how beautiful she must have looked on her special day. Well, Candace - you were absolutely breathtaking my dear. I loved your dress - I know that maggie sotero dress well, my best friend almost bought it for her wedding. The photos that were taken are so classic, you look very happy and in love. COngrats and great pics!

October 26, 2010
Well as everyone has already seen, we have awoke this morning to some yucky white stuff blowing around that none of us are ready to accept.  Well, at least we can be a bit relieved that the forecast is for nicer weather by the end of the week.  However, since its a winter day and I had a few people ask about winter weddings at Bridal Fair this past weekend, I thought I would post a few of my favorite shots from some winter weddings over the past few years.  Enjoy the blustery day everyone :)

Well it was another successful, fun filled day at The Most Incredible Bridal Show.  Its always nice to meet new potential clients, run into my past brides that are their with their friends who are now brides and of coarse see a bunch of the exhibitors that have become friends over the years.  There are some very talented people out there!  I wanted to send a special "Thank you" to my dear friend Sherry who has helped me in my booth from the beginning.  As she said, "we've come along way from year one, lol" and we definitely have.  I also want to thank Rory, James and Dalton for helping me load up, unload, set up and dismantle my booth again this year.  What would I do without you all!  And finally a thank you to my past clients, who's lovely faces adorn my photos each year.
